Junior Railway Engineer: Infrastructure and operation

In this exciting and varied role, you will be working together with the Head of Technical Research & Development on new infrastructural solutions to increase capacity, as well as on innovative components in the superstructure, which will significantly influence the railway track of the future (approx. 80% of working hours). In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on international projects in the field of permanent superstructure surveying and condition description and later also to lead them (approx. 20 % of the working time). Technology in an international context and a certain willingness to travel should be something you look forward to undertaking!

Your tasks:

  • Development of innovative components and building blocks for the railway track of the future
  • Analysis of measurement data, development of prototypes and implementation of field tests
  • Processing / management of major international projects for maintenance optimisation and quality improvement
  • Supporting the Technology Unit in all railway-related issues
  • Collaboration and co-creation of patents and patent applications, as well as the necessary research and investigation activities
  • Monitoring of technologies currently on the market, reporting and derivation of future development fields

Your profile:

  • Completed diploma studies (university or FH) with focus on civil engineering, transport engineering, railway engineering or mechanical engineering
  • Detailed knowledge in the field of railway infrastructure construction and maintenance, as well as component development
  • Interest in helping to solve complex technical issues
  • Support and implementation of customer projects, pilot projects or demonstrations in an international context
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English
  • Independent and accurate way of working, as well as an interest in a broad range of tasks
  • Willingness for ongoing training in our fields of activity
  • You see business trips to distant countries as a pleasant addition to everyday office life

  • Following an extensive introductory phase to the focus areas and tasks, you will be the first point of contact for the Head of Research and Development, on the one hand, and will provide advice and support with your railway-specific knowledge, on the other.
